Goddesses and Queens Calendar 2025 - A3 size

The Divine Feminine was a powerful force of balance in the pantheon of Celtic and Irish Gods. From the most ancient sovereignty Goddess and land builder, the Cailleach , to Brigid, the patron of arts and healing, to the fearsome and fateful Morrigan, the feminine aspect was seen as both empowering and enriching, balancing the weight of energies and equal to the power of such male Gods as The Dagda and Lugh.

In this mix, I’ve included Queens also. The first, Maedbh, quite rightly stands alongside the rest of her ancient sisters, being a legendary Queen who also bridged the worlds of mortals and Gods. The second “queen” may not be of that vintage and indeed not an actual queen or God. Granuaile, as she is commonly known is often dubbed the “Pirate Queen” and indeed saw herself an equal to Queen Elizabeth I. She is also very much a historical, human being, but such were the myths about her, during her life and after and the fact that she still lived by the ancient Irish custom of Brehon Law even in the 16th Century, allow her, in my opinion, to be included in a calendar which boasts the potential of the feminine.
